1841 sea level benchmark, `Isle of the Dead', Tasmania
This photo provides dramatic visual rebuttal for Global Warming cultists who insist that sea level is rising and will soon inundate coastal areas, killing or displacing millions of people. The photo was taken by John L. Daly before he died. I've placed it here so it won't be lost in case his website expires. In John's words: "According to Antarctic explorer, Capt. Sir James Clark Ross, it marked mean sea level in 1841. Photo taken at low tide 20 Jan 2004. Mark is 50 cm across; tidal range is less than a metre."
Clearly, sea level over the course of 165 years didn't change enough to make a gnat's ass worth of difference, in spite of worldwide industrialization and the dastardly proliferation of SUV's.
Click on the photo to switch between the original and John's digitally altered version with the benchmark whitened for visibility.
